Space is limited in Strawberry Banke!

As this total yard renovation will attest, working in tight spaces dictates the work flow from the back of the property to the front. Having worked with this client at a previous home, the collaboration between the designer and homeowner was well grounded. Starting with large pieces of pink granite off loaded from a gundola and left on the shore, that we used as the seat walls and planter boxes to the lilac stone used for the patio, a disaster area became an historical haven. An inkberry hedge was planted in the granite planter to screen a neighbour while euonymus was added to climb the newly installed fencing.

Moving our way out, we installed another “planter” along the driveway and the road again using the “gondola granite”. Water-struck brick became the material of choice for both the driveway and the walk to the front door. A pink jumbo cobble was used as an apron at the road frontage to keep future snow plows from tearing up the driveway. The final touches of plant material were added and the transformation was complete.
