A new home built in the middle of a large granite outcrop meant lots of additional fill and loam that had to be brought to the site. Adding compost and irrigation helps the plant material settle in well. Although a narrow lot which made access to the back difficult, Salmon Falls was able to plant a large specimen Red Maple so that the neighbor’s picture window was less intrusive.
But it is the front of the house that reflects the homeowner’s style. Inkberry line the cobble edged driveway and planting beds define the granite outcrop at the road’s edge. The garage could have very easily limited the feel of a grand entrance. But carefully chosen plants by the homeowner and carefully positioned by our designer give the house a regal but very friendly face in the neighborhood.
