Salmon Falls has been built around the idea of hard work and commitment to the community.
It was during high school while Mark was working for a small landscape company in MA that his passion for the landscaping business took shape. Mark enrolled in what is now North Shore Community College in Hawthorne, MA. After receiving an Associates Degree in Plant and Soil Science, Mark, with his growing family, set out for Berwick, Maine.
Mark found a property on the banks of the Salmon Falls River that allowed him to pursue this dream. The challenges of starting a business, generating capital and creating community awareness, while raising a family in rural Maine took tenacity and commitment.
With a passion for landscape construction, and the necessity of earning a living, Salmon Falls Nursery, while maintaining its retail and residential business, turned its resources to the commercial landscaping market. It continues to be a driving force today.
Within the first few years Mark bought more property to start the nursery, a long term investment and his true love. By the late 1990's, having the need for more space to grow plants, as well as to accommodate a larger office staff, two new properties were added. The current office space on Route 4 in Berwick is a customer friendly place where designers, estimators and all administrative personnel are located. Nursery and construction operations are located on New Dam Road.
Mark's belief has always been that the customer should be surprised at the level of professionalism and expertise.
Mark's strong work ethic and the good fortune of finding people who share the same passion for the industry led to the creation of the residential division, the irrigation division a few years later and now a maintenance division. It has been the employees that have seen a need and been allowed to expand our services and quality of work. These people are just another piece of the puzzle that makes Salmon Falls Nursery & Landscaping what it is today. Throughout all areas of the business, Salmon Falls has seen tremendous growth because of Mark's guidance and belief in the people he employed.
Today, Salmon Falls Nursery & Landscaping, Inc. has over 160 acres in production. We grow the finest plant materials for our customers to see and purchase. We invite all of our clients, existing and prospective, to visit the nursery to see our commitment to them.
Mark now serves on the Maine Landscape & Nursery Association Board of Directors. It is his hope that Salmon Falls will continue to be a company for the
next generation with high ideals and a passion for success. It is his dedication to the green industry that drives Salmon Falls' commitment to you.
